The World Conference on Titanium was first held in London in 1968. Since then, this significant conference has successfully been organized in Boston (1972), Moscow (1976), Kyoto (1980), Munich (1984), Cannes (1988), San Diego (1992), Birmingham (1995), St.Petersburg (1999), Hamburg (2003) and Kyoto (2007). The next one, the 12th World Conference on Titanium (Ti-2011) is to be held at the China National Convention Center in Beijing, China, from June 19 to June 24, 2011, hosted by the Nonferrous Metals Society of China.

Ti-2011 will cover all aspects of titanium & titanium alloys, and provide a platform for delegates to make exchanges on the latest developments in science and technology of titanium and its alloys as well as the various applications in both fields of aerospace and non-aerospace. The conference will adopt the traditional style of the world conferences on titanium. Seven plenary lectures will be given by the members of the International Organizing Committee (IOC) on the latest development of research and applications of titanium in their own countries during the past four years since Ti-2007 in Kyoto, and fifteen keynote lectures associated with the twelve conference topics will also be presented by renowned specialists through the recommendation of IOC members. Daily Parallel Sessions on the twelve topics will be arranged all through the conference. To emphasize the Poster Sessions, three excellent posters will be selected from each poster session and honored with awards by the organizing committee. An international exhibition 'TiEXPO 2011' will also be organized throughout the conference, open to all delegates.

To meet the needs of the fast development of titanium industry, at the end of the conference there will be two special forums arranged on non-aero and aero applications as well as markets of titanium alloys, of which the non-aero one is co-organized by the Chinese Titanium Association and the Japan Titanium Society, and the aero one is co-organized by the Aviation Industr y Corporation of China, the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. as well as other top aircraft and engine manufacturers in the world. After the conference, an optional opportunity will also be provided for delegates to join the post-conference sightseeing tours, of which technical visits to two important titanium industrial enterprises, BaoTi and BaoSteel, are also included.

After the first announcement, many potential participants have made their initial registrations on the conference website www.ti-2011.com. Upon issue of this second circular, we wish more and more scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, investors, students and officials in the field of titanium research, development, application, industrialization and education etc to submit papers for Ti-2011 and enjoy the stay in Beijing.
